 | | Thank you to all those who compare me with Klimt and Mucha. Such comparisons can only make me feel good and sound like compliments for all the hours spent in the studio covering the canvas with all the many stories that I steal from people. I love to “steal” the expression of an unknown glance and turn feelings into an image. A work must be the painter’s vision, but it must also be the offer of a spiritual encounter. A painting must be the jewel on the wall and can never be too “beautiful”. The world is made of more than just beauty and fine feelings: we only need to open our eyes to realise that. But the artist is, and remains, responsible for what he creates. The question is: what does he want to put across? The so-called “deep and serious” is no excuse for impose ugliness, as the more we trivialize it, the more normal it becomes and blinds us to the rest. |
